"Moose on the Loose
” Golf Scramble – 3 of June, 1st Saturday in June. Sponsored by the North American Moose Foundation, the event is wild & crazy, like the critter it’s named after. Scramble is held at River Park Golf Course, West end of Capitol Avenue. For more information call 208-588-2939.

Mackay Rodeo – Held on the 3rd Weekend of June, Fathers Day Weekend. Appropriately billed as “Idaho’s Wildest Rodeo,” you won’t want to miss the excitement! Starts 12:00, Saturday with a parade through town, Rodeo starts at 2:00 on Saturday and Sunday. An Open Rodeo, special events are Bull Riding on some of the finest bulls in the business, both timed and stock events, and the half-time entertainment event is always fun. There will be a concert following the Saturday Rodeo at the rodeo grounds, West end of Capitol Avenue. For more information contact the Mackay Rodeo Association at 588-3027.

July
Kids S.N.A.F. Day Camp
– 6-7 of July, 9:00-3:00. S.N.A.F. stands for: Science, Nature, Astronomy, Radiation and Flight. Discover the scientist in you. This will be a day of discovery and fun! For kids going into 2nd grade up to 7th grade. Just some of the activities will be: Construction of a Delta Dart Flyer, Volcano, Straw and Alkaseltzer Rockets, Hover Crafts, and a Launcher to save Mr. Egg. Independence Day Celebration – 4th of July. An event for all ages. The fun begins at the Kids Park, with games and activities especially for youngsters. The park is located at the corner of Elm Avenue and Spruce Street.

A.B.A.T.E. Motorcycle Rodeo – 1 and 2 of July, 4th of July weekend. Everything a cowboy does on the back of a horse, these guys do on the back of a motorcycle (except buck out of a chute!). Held at Mackay rodeo grounds, West end of Capitol Avenue. For more information call 208-588-2576.

Sammy’s Mini-Mart/Ivies Bestway Golf Tournament – Golfers from throughout the region play in this fun and competitive tournament. All proceeds are turned over to the Mackay Booster Club. The tournament is held at River Park Golf Course, West end of Capitol Avenue. For more information call 208-588-2296.

Annual Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Banquet, Lost River Valley Chapter – 29 and 30 of July. This annual event is one all sportsmen mark on their calendar. It starts with a clay pigeon shoot and goes right into archery shoot, then enjoy a fantastic banquet with raffles and silent/loud auctions topping off the evening. The auction and raffle items are spectacular. The next day the Elk Foundation hosts a golf tournament at the River Park Golf Course. For more information contact Russ Hose at: 339-5278

August
Custer County Fair
– 31 of July through 5 of August; Monday through Saturday. This is an old-fashioned county fair, with homemade pies, preserves and a fashion review showcasing the apparel made by the 4-H club. Livestock showing all week ending with a livestock auction. Fun for the entire family. Held at the Mackay Rodeo Grounds/Fair Grounds, west end of Capitol Avenue. White Knob Challenge Mountain Bike Race – 6 of August. This grueling, 19-mile race takes mountain bikers from downtown Mackay to the White Knob Mountains and back. For more information call 208-890-3118 or e-mail LRC.
